How It's Grown — Part 5

How It's Grown — Part 5

We're Talking Trash (Kinda)

I'm sure none of us really stop to think about the effects of trash in a cotton field. The cotton plant attracts and holds on to plastic bags and other trash that rolls along the highways. Unless the cotton picker operator sees the trash, stops his picker and gets outs to remove it, that trash could very easily wind up going through the gin and into a bale of cotton. This damages quality as well as the price per bale.

Furthermore, when we look at a lot of the big box store plastic bags that end up in our fields, we are reminded of the industries and jobs that have left our nation and gone overseas. This just renews our resolve to produce American and buy American. Sometimes it's just the small things that make a difference!
